UNIQLO to further expand with first store in Penang

UNIQLO is kicking off 2013 in style with the eighth store opening in Malaysia as it expands beyond the Klang Valley for the very first time. Fans in Penang can now look forward to UNIQLO’s offerings as the brand continues to meet consumers’ increasing demand for basic high quality fashion items.

Penangites can mark their calendars, as UNIQLO officiates their maiden store in Queensbay Mall in March 2013. The opening of the approximately 18,000 sq ft outlet at the first floor was driven by growing requests from UNIQLO fans for stores outside the Klang Valley. The eighth store opening is in line with the global expansion strategy of 144 stores in Asia for 2013.

Mr. Satoshi Onoguchi, Managing Director of UNIQLO (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and UNIQLO (Singapore) Pte.Ltd. said, “Ever since our first store opening in Malaysia back in 2010, our fans have been consistently requesting us to expand beyond Klang Valley. We are pleased to be able to meet their expectations by extending our offerings to Penang for the very first time! With the reception that we have been getting from fans on all our store openings, we are confident that we will see a similar response here.”

“Queensbay Mall is the current largest and longest shopping mall in Penang. It is a prime location that is perfect for us to increase accessibility for UNIQLO fans, where we will be able to showcase our complete set of fashion items to families in the area,” he added.

The mall is located within a few minutes away from the Penang Bridge sprawling over 73 acres. The location was strategically chosen to attract tourist and locals, especially families within the vicinity.

The Queensbay Mall store will showcase the full range of UNIQLO’s latest fashion lines for men and women. The store will also feature the children and babies collection.
